New Life, New Work, New Journey

  • Its been awhile since I've made my last entry and i kinda miss blogging.
I would want to blog everyday and every step that I made and what I had gone through but I dont want to preempt anything since the result for every process and steps are not certain yet.
Finally, i've ended my 2 months bumming. Although I've gone through a job that is unlikely related to what I want to pursue, I still choose to go for it. I mean, if there is something that is really meant for you, then its really for you.

So what's my new job? I am working as a Trusted Advisor, hell yeah! Technically speaking, I am working as a Customer Service Representative in an international company. CSR=Phone Calls. Did I say I hate phone calls? but the job is all about phone calls. Thank God, I got a good phone training in CYD and im used to handling irate callers. I mean not really good in handling customers on the phone but its not new to me anyways.

Meet my wavemates.... They always make every night worth it.
ALRIGHT! I always think that a Call Center Job is easy. As long as you know how to speak and understand english, you are good to go. But, I was so f*ckin surprise of what I have gone through. You need to erase your Filipino way of speaking English. In my case, I almost don't have the Filipino accent.. what is more obvious in me is my Singaporean accent. Sh*t. Hahaha. I try to control it, but its really hard. Since we are going to handle a billing account of an American Telco, we have to speak in English like an American. and if you don't want to be pumped on the phone with these people, you really have to do it. There are few people in our batch that doesnt have an experience yet including me. If its tough for the veterans, what more for the virgins? HAHAHA.

One big challenge for us is our shift. We have to work following the time in America. So when its 9:00pm here, its 9:00am in America. In short, as long as we are doing this job, our shift will always be on a graveyard sh*t. I'm used in staying up the whole night but its different when you're working the whole night. I dont want to lure myself in drinking coffee just to stay awake. Imagine, in one night I can consume 3 set of coffees! and what I hate about strong coffees, it will make you palpitate and its very disturbing.

1st week of training is US101 or again what I called, Americanization. Philippine culture is not really far from American culture so its not a problem. If you're used to something already and you have done it for the past 21 years of your life, you can't change that something overnight but Filipinos are good in imitating and coping so they are good in adjusting. I'm not saying that we can do it overnight, what i mean is we can do it in a short span of time compared to other nations. That's why we are everywhere.

Luckily, I passed the 1st week, and I am now looking for the next 4 weeks of training before the actual job. If there is a problem that is really bugging me to perform well in this job, it will be my hearing. Honestly, I'm deaf! HAHAHA. So I'm predicting that I might not stay in this job for long but not too short. I need money to reach my goals for the next 6 months. Since I already have the gadgets that I want to have, it is not my priority. Before the year ends, I will book a ticket going to somewhere? guess where? HAHAHA. And i might go there after staying for 6 months in the job, that will be February so I can avail my vacation leave. My target months are April or May for 10 days probably. and my intention of going there is still unknown, either for a job or just a visit. Orrr, I might go there on December this year but just a short stay. Let's see. That is my main goal! HAHAHA.
